" a single act of kindness can save a life." in what ways is this saying true?

I saw a very rich and successful man on t.v. last night. He was giving a speech. He said when he was young boy in high school, he didn't have any friends, and so he was terribly lonely and depressed. His parents fought all the time and neglected him. He thought that everybody hated him.

One day he decided to commit suicide, and that after school, he would go home and hang himself. On his way home, he accidentally dropped all his books. A young man was nearby and helped him pick up his books. The young man was very friendly and this single act of kindness helped the boy realized that not everybody hated him. That there are good people out there. This one single act of kindness made him decide not to commit suicide that day. And now he is one of the most richest men in America.

Do you have any other stories on how a single act of kindness saved a life?

Thank you for letting me share. :o)

My wife was 7 mths pregnant with twins, and had particularly hard Braxton-Hicks contractions over the past weekend. So we went to the Dr. for an ultrasound. My wife mentioned the hard contractions to the ultrasound tech, who said it didn't sound like much, but she would pass it on the doctor.

The doctor said it didn't sound like much, but she would take "10 seconds" and give her a "quick check."

My wife was IN LABOR and the babies were in a breech position.

She had an emergency C-section.

The kids were born healthy and alive.

The doctor easily could have passed on the "quick inspection" - but she didn't.
