It seems strange to me that fundamentalists can denounce single parenthood while at the same time worshiping a single parent. If single-parenthood is such a bad thing, shouldn't there be a "heavenly father" AND a "heavenly mother"?

Reply:my mom was a single mother (before my sister and i were born). it was her and my older brother for a while (before my dad came into the picture). she's wasn't denounced. as a matter of fact, people of the church welcomed her with open arms and supplied her with the things she needed. God didn't forsake her either.

Reply:where are you getting your information. Mary was betrothed to Joseph when Jesus was born and then she married him. she was not a single mom. and i don't know of any Christians who denouce single parenthood as there are plenty of single parent Christians.
