Name the single Worst AND single Best effect that Religion has had on the world/man?

Name the single Worst and single Best effect, in your opinion, that organised religion has had on the world/man. Please be fair and answer both parts.





Feel free to speak about religion in general, or focus on an individual example(s). For the sake of the question, regarding Atheism and/or Agnosticism as a religion is OK, since you could argue that it too is a belief system. Feel free to argue THAT point too... ^_^

Atheism is no belief. Stating this could be a "belief system" shows irrational thinking. I also must have a "belief system" based on my non-belief in unicorns, fairies, and magical elves, correct?





Bad: convincing people to think irrationally, who may otherwise think rationally. Good: giving people who can't think rationally something to occupy their brains.
Reply:well first of all atheism and agnosticism aren't religions as atheists don't believe in the existence of any higher being or power and agnostics believe that the existence or non existence of a higher being is unknowable anyway the worst thing religion has done is divided and separated people from one another in terms that people only look at each other as what religion or non religion they are so in a sense you can say that religion leads to labeling people in categories instead of looking at people as human beings also there have been a ton of murders due to religion as for the positive aspect of religion well it gives people something to do to kill time and fill a void that they might be feeling anyway i'm agnostic and i hope i helped you out in anyway possible anyway i have open questions in my profile if you want to answer any or all of them you are more then welcome to as is everybody else
